Sheila Hammond (1940-) - my mother - is the youngest of three children. She married my father Malcolm John Hammond (1936-1982) in Ringwood, Hampshire in 1959. Her sister is Hazel Geary, who is married to Norman Geary. Her brother was David Percy, who was married to Margaret Percy. Hazel and Norman had one daughter, Vivien Hagen (1950-2005). Generation Four

Henry Percy (my Grandfather) was Hazel, David and Sheila's father. He was born in South Newton, Wiltshire in 1892, the fourth of six children. He married my grandmother Bethia Sheppard in Hyde, Fordingbridge, Hampshire in 1928. Bethia was born in Mere, Wiltshire in 1907. Henry died in 1949 and my grandmother remarried (a George Etheridge) soon after. Bethia died in 1977. Henry's five siblings were Sidney George (1885-1965), Ethel May (1887-????; married Jack Latter ????, 1 daughter Myrtle), Alice Ida (1889-????), John (Jack) (1894-????) & Dorothy Gladys (1897-????). At the time of the 1901 census, Sidney was working as a Domestic Gardener. Ethel was a Domestic Housemaid to a banker in the village of Little Durnford

Generation Five

Miller George Percy was Henry's father and my Great-Grandfather.He was born on August 14th 1857 in Winterbourne Gunner. His birth certificate lists Ann Percy as his mother but lists no father, which indicates that he was probably illegitimate. George married Axminster Carper Weaver Martha Cooper (1862-????) in the Independent Chapel, Crow Lane, Wilton, on February 1st 1885. Martha's father was bricklayer Josiah Cooper, who had married Martha Hinton in 1843. Interestingly, George's father on his marriage certificate is listed as carpenter George Percy (deceased) - possibly a fictitious entry.

My Great-Great-Grandmother was Ann Percy, christened on March 23rd 1834 in Winterbourne Dauntsey. As well as her son George, Ann had a daughter, Jane Pearcy, christened on December 26th 1852. Ann Percy married Thomas Bishop at St Edmund's Church, Salisbury (now Salisbury Art Centre) on 26th Jan 1867. In the 1871 census, they are living in Devizes together with Thomas's three grown-up children. Ann had six siblings - Edmund (1829-????; married Sarah Coole in ????, 9 children), Jane (1832-????), George (1838-????), Charles (1841-????; married Mary ????, 6 children), Emma (1842-????) and Hannah (1850-????). Ann's sister Jane appears to have been married twice. She is listed as widow Jane Smith in the 1871 census, where she is a Domestic Servant at the The Mill in Winterbourne Gunner. The 1871 census lists Jane's son Tom Smith (1863-1877) and Emma's daughter Alice Percy (1868-????) living with their Grandparents (Jane's parents) Edmund and Hannah Pearcy, together with Emma and George Pearcy. In the 1881 and 1901 census, Jane Smith is now widow Jane Bungay, dressmaker in Winterbourne Gunner. At the 1881 census. Alice is living with her Uncle Charles and his wife Mary Ellen.
